As a researcher for TIME Magazine, you must discover five quotes from
famous people in the 20th century before the 5:00 deadline. The five
categories labeled on the in-boxes provide you with questions and
quotes for your research assignment. As you work, the clock keeps
track of your day.
CATEGORIES: You may select the categories in any order. In each
category, a quote is displayed with all letters replaced with boxes.
You can uncover the letters by correctly answering a series of
questions. Your goal for each category is to complete the quote by
answering questions and adding letters. The five categories are:
DECADES - Questions about events from the 1900s through the 1970s
ELECTIONS - Questions about U.S. Presidential Elections
from 1900 to 1992
1980s - Questions about events of the 1980s
1990s - Questions about events of the 1990s
EDITOR'S CHOICE - Questions selected by the editor from
all categories!
THE CLOCK: As you work, the clock keeps track of your day. The
clock moves ahead:
- 7 minutes for each Question
- 8 minutes for each Hint
- 10 minutes for each Multiple Choice
- 2 minutes for each incorrect letter attempted in the Quote
QUESTIONS: You can answer up to 20 questions in each category. If
you need help with an answer, use HINTS or MULTIPLE CHOICE. Use
SEARCH to look for answers in TIME Magazine articles in the Almanac
on this CD. There is no time penalty for using Search, but Hints
and Multiple Choice advance the clock. If you know the quote, you
do not need to answer all the questions.
If you do not solve the quote, the game is over and you must exit
NewQuest.
QUOTES: Fill in letters at any time by selecting ADD TO QUOTE. If
you try to add an incorrect letter to the quote, the clock moves
ahead 2 minutes per letter. The final four letters will never be
uncovered because it is your assignment to discover the quote.
When the last letter is added to the quote, the category is complete.
Discover all five quotes and you've won the game!
